TEXAS ASSOCIATION OF QUILT GUILDS Come join hundreds of north Texas quilters at the Annual T.A.Q.G Rally Day 2007.

DATE: Saturday, July 14, 2007.
PLACE: Mimosa Baptist Church , 1233 N. Beltline Rd , Mesquite , Texas 75149, corner of Beltline and Mimosa.

HOST GUILDS: Mesquite , Garland , Rowlett and Cotton Patch Quilt.

HOURS: 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM

ADMISSION: Free with your L.O.L.Q.G membership card. Guests: $20. one day membership.

SPEAKER:: Nationally known speaker Charlotte Angotti
Charlotte will be doing two presentations on Rally Day and the workshop on Fri, July 13th.
The workshop in entitled “Let me Surprise You” for $100,( including a kit for $75 and a $25 workshop fee). Visit her at her web site www.charlotteangotti.com.

PRIZES: As in the past one of the wonderful things about Rally Day are the Goody Bags. The goal is that all attending will receive one full of items donated by merchants and guilds. All those attending are eligible for special door prizes.

LUNCH PROVIDED: Rally Day Lunches by Applebee’s (.Cobb Salad, Chicken Fajita Rollup or Grilled Chicken salad) $6.50, are available in advance at guild meetings

RAFFLE TICKETS: Again this year there will be two separate raffle baskets, one purchased pre Rally Day at guild meetings, the second can be purchased at Rally Day. Tickets are $1.00 each or 6 for $5.00

PINS:TAQG and Rally Day pins are available for sale at guild meeting. 2001-03:$1each, 2004-06: $3 each, 2007 & TAQG: $5 each

QUILTS: Several guilds will be displaying their favorite or raffle quilts.

WHAT IS T.A.Q.G. and RALLY DAY??

T.A.Q.G. is the Texas Association of Quilt Guilds. This is an organization formed about 7 years ago to improve the communications between quilt guilds. To become a member, your group must be a guild. If you are a member of a guild who belongs to T.A.Q.G., you are a T.A.Q.G 'member'. We meet every other month. There are presently 33 member guilds. Membership fees are based on a sliding scale according to the number of members in each guild. At each meeting a representative of each guild attends a T.A.Q.G Board Meeting.

At the same time there is also a 'Special Meeting' going on. A different topic is selected for each of these meetings. An invitation is extended to the appropriate chairpersons in each guild to attend this meeting.

Texas Association of Quilt Guilds secondary meetings have become so popular; two secondary meetings are being planned for most of 2007. Our Guild has a representative at the T.A.Q.G. board meeting, however, guild committee chairpersons attend secondary meetings. Meetings start at 10:00am and last until about noon, unless noted. Location: Garden Ridge Church of Christ, Main and Garden Ridge, Lewisville. Chairmen, please mark your calendars!

The event that most people know about is the T.A.Q.G sponsored event, 'Rally Day'. This is a daylong event. A national known speaker is invited to speak. Member guilds are asked to take turns hosting the event. Local and national companies donate wonderful merchandise that is given as door prizes. Everyone attending receives a goody bag. There is a mini silent auction and a special raffle to raise money to pay for this event. Guilds will show their raffle quilts. The speaker usually has merchandise available for sale and usually will take time to sign your books. Any one who is a member of a T.A.Q.G member guild can attend free. The average attendance has been approximately 1000. See Rally Day for further information on this years event.
