2012 Block of the Month Challenge – Land O’Lakes Quilt Guild
This year we will be building houses! Below are the cutting instructions and directions for the portion of our block of the month that stays the same each month. Every month you will be given the directions for completing a 6 ½” (6” finished) block that will complete your house.
General guidelines:
· Each 6 ½” block will require 3 fabrics – a dark, medium, and light
· Each of the 12 “house” portions of your block can be made using the same fabrics, or each of the 12 can be made using different fabrics.
· Use a scant ¼” seam.
· Make one sample “house” portion to determine how everything fits together before cutting for “assembly” line piecing (if making identical “houses).
· Bring your completed block back each month to be eligible for a monthly prize.
· Finished quilts using all 12 blocks will be due at the March 12, 2012 meeting. Each participant will determine how to set and finish her quilt.
· A “Viewer’s Choice” award will be given after member voting at the March 12, 2012 meeting. The prize will be a $50.00 gift certificate from Quilt Country.
· Questions? Please call Laurie Say at 972-899-1511 or e-mail at lauriesay@juno.com.
· Disclaimer! I drafted this pattern, so please have kind thoughts if you end up needing to tweak it a bit after you make your own sample!
